Ongoing Outreach Projects

There are many ways and places to serve at A Mighty Fortress.  We invite you to explore these opportunities and some of our outreach partners to see where your talents and energy can be used.

  • Belhaven Reading Program- in coordination with residents of the Belhaven Estates community we bring a travelling library, games, and snacks to the children during the summer months to promote literacy skills.
  • ZOOM (Ziploc Opportunity Outreach Ministry) Bags- these portable offerings of food and love are distributed by members to those in our community suffering from homelessness.
  • Room in the Inn- since 1996 AMF has hosted neighbors suffering from homelessness every Friday night during the winter months.  We provide a warm and safe place to sleep, meals, and fellowship through this extraordinary program coordinated by Roof Above.  As this program was cancelled during the pandemic we provided meals and toiletries directly to Roof Above.
  • Thrift Methodist Food Pantry- this ongoing partnership directly addresses food insecurity in our immediate neighborhood.
  • CROP Walk- for the past 37 years we have raised funds and laced up our walking shoes to support local and international services that address food insecurity in our community and the world.
  • Paw Creek Elementary- Volunteers work in partnership with teachers with one-on-one and small-group student learning.  We support the school through book drives, tutors, donations, and other activities.
